A Florida Flamingo rests its head upon its back after a long meal.
Photographer Notes:
During a photography trip to Florida, I came across a flock of flamingos dining together in the water. I stood quietly and watched as they seemed to converse with each other and while their stomachs. Just like humans, after a big meal, they nestled in for a nap to sleep off their dining.
As I watched them settle in, the brightness of their feathers against the dark contrast of the water reminded me of the Carnaval celebration. That is where the image's name comes from, in honor of the flamboyant costumes worn during that celebration. However, those costumes are based on the beauty God paints into each of His tropical birds, extending God's artistry even deeper into our everyday lives.
