An American Crow stands atop a fence post within Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Photography Journal (October 12, 2021)
I had heard from multiple friends that I needed to visit Cades Cove within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of Eastern Tennessee because it was thriving with wildlife. I was highly suspect because wildlife typically doesn't come out on display in nature easily. However, in Cades Cove, it certainly does in a variety of species including black bears, turkeys, whitetail deer, elk, and even crows.
I had stopped at the Tipton Place along the Cades Cove Loop to shooting a few images of homesteads when I noticed two American Crows feeding in a nearby field. As they gathered my full attention one of them flew up to an old fence post along the outside of the field and I was able to capture its portrait.
Crows are amazingly intelligent birds and I love to watch how they interact with the world, including this one who seemed to know I was taking his portrait and posed for me on the post. I pray this image brings wonder, peace, and joy to your heart.
