A whitetail deer wanders the marshes of a mountain lake.
Photographer's Journal (06.15.22)
I had been wandering a marsh looking for birds to photograph after being chased out of the Blue Ridge Mountains by severe winds and thunderstorms. As I walked quietly through the marsh trying not to make too much noise, I heard a few twigs crack to my left. As I slowly turned to investigate, I saw this beautiful doe studying me trying to determine if I was a threat.
So I slowly raised my lens and took several shots of her including the one you see here. Amazingly, she patiently allowed me to photograph her until she decided to gently stroll off through the marsh in search of sweeter grasses.
