Photographer Notes:
My son, Christian, and I were on our way back home to Asheville, North Carolina after a photo outing in Orlando, Florida when we stopped in Charleston to spend the night, see some of the sights and capture one or two more images. While Christian relaxed at the TIDES Hotel in Folly, I looked up landmarks I hadn't seen yet in Charleston and figured I would a little scouting for future shoots.
It was a beautiful warm blue sky evening as I drove around downtown but as I crossed the Cooper River via the Arther Ravenel Jr. Bridge I immediately got excited as the setting sun lit the sky up in a beautiful array of golden hues against the city and river. I looked over to my left as I exited the bridge in the hopes of spotting a place to park and capturing an image. I was in luck when I discovered a small city park, so I made a quick left, found a place to park.
As I exited my truck, I grabbed my drone and walked swiftly to the water's edge, and took flight. What I was able to capture thrilled me because I knew I would be able to share it with you.
I call this Palmetto Gateway because Charleston, SC is known as the Palmetto City due to all its Palmetto trees. I hope you love this image of God's artistry as much as I did seeing it in person. I know the bridge is man-made, but it was God who gave those engineers and designers the talents to build her against His amazing beauty and design.
