Photography Journal (October 14, 2021):
As a Christian, I have to remember to have more patience and faith in God's decisions and direction for my life. I know I get frustrated with having to wait but He has always delivered blessings when I don't rush the situation. This image, Dry Fall, is a perfect example of that.
When I was driving to Highlands, NC to photograph Dry Falls I got jammed up in traffic along U.S. Highway 64. A semi-truck driver had slipped his rig off the twisting mountain road just enough to get stuck. This situation stopped traffic, including me, for more than forty-five minutes and I started to become very frustrated thinking I would miss the light I wanted for my shot.
Finally, when the mishap was cleared I sped off to the falls to find the light was more than perfect for the photo I wanted to shoot. In addition, the very popular waterfall was baren of visitors giving me the chance to shoot the image without worrying about capturing someone in it. In short, if I had arrived at the time I planned I never would have captured the image of God's artistry as He had wanted me to.
I pray this image brings you as much peace and joy as it did for me when I took it.
