Just Like The Beatles And Abby Road

I was sitting at home chatting with my sister Charlotte on the phone when I suddenly heard the unmistakable call of tom turkeys outside. That sound will get any wildlife photographer moving fast.

I slipped in my AirPods so I could keep talking with Charlotte, grabbed my Nikon Z8 with the 600mm, and hurried outside to see what was happening in the first light of the morning.

That is when I found them.

Three tom turkeys casually strolling across my street like they owned the place, clearly on a mission to find a hen somewhere in the neighborhood. As I watched them line up and cross the road, it instantly reminded me of something Charlotte would appreciate.

Since Charlotte is a huge Beatles fan, I could not help but laugh while I kept firing frames, realizing nature had just recreated one of the most iconic images in music history right in front of my house.

Moments like this are why I love being a natural world photographer. Sometimes wildlife gives you something beautiful, sometimes something dramatic, and sometimes something that makes you smile.

To me it is just another example of God's artistry showing up in the most unexpected ways, blending my sister's love of the Beatles with my own journey from nearly 30 years in radio to chasing moments like this in the wild.
