Rising Above

Entire portions of towns, if not all of them, like Chimney Rock and Swannanoa were wiped off the map. Not just flooded, I mean gone. For instance in Chimney Rock the town sits below two creeks that converge into the valley that feed into Lake Lure. The water levels rose so fast and quickly that those relatively small creeks not only jumped their banks but washed away the town forever.
I can not tell you how sick to my stomach all of the destruction has left me feeling. I have been suffering from survivor’s guilt a lot because my studio and home was relatively unscathed while so many are suffering in shelters. I did spring into action to go fetch supplies for my neighbors and friends, however I still don’t feel as if I have done enough.
I don’t want you to feel bad for me, that is not the point here. What I am going to ask is that you please donate to your favorite reputable charity so they can get boots on the ground to help us in Western North Carolina and again in Florida and Georgia who suffered too. Even if you can only spare $5.00 that small donation added to thousands of others will make a huge difference for families suffering.
I truly appreciate anything you can do.
